Our history
The beginning
A&A Digital was established in 2012 by Alessio Ascari,
originally as A&A Tech and Services, with the goal of identifying and promoting best practices and innovation within the technology and life science sectors.
The origin
In 2009, his groundbreaking work on the potential impact of technology in healthcare delivery inspired the launch of a global special initiative within McKinsey.
This experience fueled Alessio's passion and drive to expedite the adoption of such innovations, recognizing their synergistic benefits for both business and society.
The expertise
Motivated by this vision, Alessio founded A&A Digital to further advance this ambitious goal. In pursuit of his passion, he leverages his vast experience in successfully serving clients across diverse industries, geographies, and cultures. His expertise is further enriched by entrepreneurial business building and hands-on startup management.
The means
After leaving consulting, Alessio pursued his mission through a variety of roles: as co-founder and co-CEO of a startup, non-executive board member, senior advisor, "hired gun" CEO in a highly innovative, angel-funded startup, chairman of a diverse board and, of course, as founder and CEO of A&A Digital.
Early years
In its early years, A&A Digital played a pivotal role in supporting the development of two significant startups, TheRealFace and AMICOMED, in collaboration with different specific partners
TheRealFace
developed a groundbreaking technology to create detailed customer profiles. It utilized publicly available information from social networks to enhance the engagement and marketing strategies of large consumer-oriented companies, such as telecommunications operators, all while adhering to EU privacy regulations as verified by the Italian Privacy Authority.
Unfortunately, the company was forced to close just as it began to achieve its initial successes. This setback occurred when major social media platforms restricted access to their APIs and began offering similar services themselves.
AMICOMED
over time established in Italy, Switzerland, and ultimately the USA, developed a pioneering digital therapeutics service aimed at managing and reducing blood pressure. The first entirely autonomous cloud-based software that not only assessed blood pressure trends but also reduced it through a highly personalized digital lifestyle program. Fully based on algorithms, one of which CE-marked Class IIa medical device, AMICOMED operated under both B2C and B2B2C models through a variety of channel partners.
The business was eventually acquired by a healthcare-focused company, which aimed to expand its reach by integrating it with other complementary services.
A&A Digital was later instrumental in
• Developing sales and upselling optimization programs for mass-market consumer players. These programs, which utilized advanced behavioral science, were implemented in various regions including the Middle East and Southeast Asia.
• Advising a large multinational insurance company on creating its own
ecosystem of digital health and wellbeing partners. This guidance helped thecompany understand the full potential of their applications, ultimately leading to the establishment of a wholly-owned subsidiary dedicated to orchestrating its development in the sector.
